Quambatook Mini Report 2018
It was the night before Easter and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse, that describes the camp kitchen in the Quamby caravan park Friday night it was the quietest one I have seen, no tales about a pull that was so good but so far from the 100 meter marker, no explaining of our sport to a first time spectator who was staying in the park, the most noise was coming from the Professors trailer.
As the haze from Movin on, the first tractor to run down the track Saturday afternoon was slowly lifting, suddenly all seemed right again, it was Easter Saturday and we were at Quambatook. Six limited minis, ten super minis and six open Minis were in attendance at the last event for the pulling season. Thanks to Kubota Australia there was plenty of orange all around the complex and the crowd had filled the banks all of them having a tractor they were supporting and or barracking for.
A challenging track was produced to test all drivers and tractors and the results were a few black flags and the placing spread out through most of the entrance. The biggest breakage for the day was Stampede dropping a few valves in the motor at the thirty meter mark in an early run putting them out for the rest of the day.
One mini driver who will remain nameless even went over to the dark side of the track to drive a truck and show them all on the right hand side track how it’s done, they did return and I believe that they have no plans to defect again but there condition is been monitored closely.
The Mini Tractor Pull Associations AGM will be the next thing on our calendar it has been set for the 19th of May in Ballarat. If you are interested in tractor pulling you don’t have to be a tractor owner to be a member and there are many rewarding positions right next to the action and some a bit further away you could be involved in, if you feel the need for some tractor pulling excitement please contact us and we can talk about it with you and give you some training if required.
Lastly a big thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, workers, event sites and members for a great year and for the chance of travelling around with our chosen motorsport catching up with friends and the opportunity of meeting many others.
